Kate Kohler Amory is co-founder and Artistic Director of The Ridiculous Project Boston. Kate is a theater maker, actor, director, choreographer, dancer, writer and Professor of Movement and Acting for Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She was a founding member of Holderness Theater Company and Convergences Theater Collective in New York. Her devising and directing credits include: Comedy of Errors, Henry VI.ii. (w/ Tina Packer) and THIS IS IT: Plays in Process at Shakespeare and Company. DREAM LOVE ESCAPE, Pandemic Plays 20|20, The Birds and Romeo and Juliet: A Space Oddity for The Ridiculous Project, D.ark Water, Dog Act, Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play, Act 1, The Mermaid Hour: Remixed, Midsummer Night’s Dream for Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Macbeth, D.arc Water, Big Love, Ghosts of Troy, The Wolves, and Comedy of Errors for Salem State University Theater and co-directed Hamlet in a Nutshell at Brandeis University.

 

Ms. Amory has performed in an abundance of plays over her acting career. Select acting credits include – New York: Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing(Lincoln Center’s Clark Theater/ Holderness), Refracting Miss Julie (One Arm Red) The Yellow Wallpaper (The Living Theater) The Life of Spiders, Einstein's Dreams, and PERSONA (Culture Project). And in New England: As You Like It, Love’s Labor’s Lost, Dibble Dance (Shakespeare & Company), Sylvia in Sylvia (Salem Summer Theatre), Possible Worlds (Perishable Theater), and Much Ado About Nothing (New England Shakespeare Festival). She has written and performed numerous solo shows including CounterThrust: The Persistence of Memory (Boulder International Fringe Festival). She holds an MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University, Masters from RADA/ Kings College London and BFA Goldsmiths College, London. She is a master teacher of the work of Stephen Wangh/ Acrobat of the Heart, is certified in Pure Movement (Trish Arnold), is an SMTT: Somatic Movement Educator and a CYT: Yoga instructor.
